If you're not using video on your website yet, you're missing out on a huge opportunity to increase your customer's responsiveness to targeted offers.

With the ever growing population of broadband users in the United States, video has become mainstream. If you look for the most popular sites on the Internet you'll see that YouTube.com is the 8th most popular website in the world. It is estimated that 65% of Internet users in the United Stateshave broadband access, and that number is expected to grow to 80% by 2010.

Video is an extremely powerful medium. If you use eye-catching videos on your website chances are you will capture your website visitor's interest. Also, if you put video on your webpages, search engines will love you and will push your website up their rankings. There are a lot of ways to implement videos on your website, but first let's quickly go through some benefits of adding video to your website:

Video creates an instant connection with people. It puts a human face on the proposition. Sure, blogs can do this, but video REALLY does this. Would you rather look at a screenshot of Rodney Yee doing a yoga move, or see a 5 minute clip of Rodney doing some of his yoga sets before you buy his DVD?

Video increases visitor's confidence in your services/products. In the case of Gaiam DVD's for example, they'll see exactly what they're going to get with their purchase.

Video can be streamed and almost instantly viewed by visitor. Broadband penetration makes consuming video 'just part of the Internet usage' for the average consumer.

Video is an inexpensive way to personalize your website and stand out from the crowd.

Video explains concepts in a way that no text or podcast can. A merchant can use voice, music, pictures, screenshots, motion pictures, whatever...to explain their value add. Having prospects read your website for 5 minutes is a big stretch. Getting the information across in a 5 minute video isn't nearly such a burden

Video is simply more engaging than blogs, or even podcasts. Seriously. I can watch the The Secret Trailer a thousand times, and it's still as engaging, and just as compelling!

AMWSO has decided to use the assistance of Joe Chapuis from WebVideoZone.com to host our merchant video clips.  His software converts raw video files and plays them inside a video player. Not only that. You can embed your affiliate links in the video files too!

Please check out an example of this tool in action here (promoting ‘The Secret'): http://www.affiliatecreatives.com/gaiam/the_secret/the_secret.htm.

You'll notice that:

  • The Gaiam logo on the top of the logo is a clickable affiliate link. (You'll have to check your cookie cache to see the LinkShare cookie dropped via WebVideoZone's software).
  • When the video is done there is a message to; “Click on the video screen to buy “The Secret'”. This leads to the Gaiam landing page for ‘The Secret' through an affiliate link.
  • Anyone can add the video to their site via the “Add To Site” button – which of course includes an affiliate link.
  • You can email a friend a link to the video via the “Share” button – which of course includes an affiliate link.

The videos created through the WebVideoZone system are thoroughly customizable and 100% viral! Plus, and this is where it gets really good. It's really easy to add the videos to your site with your affiliate ID embedded into them. Literally anyone can do it. (I/we do the hard work from our end). To add the video file you saw on the landing page we created above, all you have to do is go to this page: http://go.webvideoplayer.com/aff/nC1cvJefTxV3rUahHPkE1347. You then add you Linkshare ID, and cut a paste the resulting HTML code into your website. EASY. All videos that you add to you website(s) -- hosted by WebVideoZone -- and that you distribute, will have your affiliate ID embedded into them.

So what's the key to high Conversion Rates using web video?

Fairly simple really. You need to use the videos that will connect best with your audience's needs and interests.

Are you ready to start implementing videos into your site?

Great! Follow the instructions below...

1) Visit this page.

2) Click the links to watch the videos.

3) Next, select the one(s) that will appeal to your target group. Make up a landing page that you feel makes the best connection with your audience. Alternatively, if you already have a page that you feel one or more of the videos will fit perfectly on, then you're ready to go!

4) Write an audience-relevant article and add the video for maximum pre-selling impact.

5) To embed a video to your webpage simply follow these instructions.

N.B. This example is for the Gaiam videos which track through the Linkshare network

  1. Enter your unique Linkshare Affiliate ID code in the box on the page.

Do not enter a link. You need to provide your unique Linkshare Affiliate ID code that is contained within your affiliate links. For example, the links you use to send traffic to Gaiam's web site look something like this:

http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=yourcodehere&offerid=121237.10000631&type=3&subid=0

Enter 'yourcodehere' (without the quotes) into the box. It is recommended that you check with us to make sure you're using the correct code if you're not certain. Failure to use the right affiliate ID will result in a loss of referred commissions for you.

N.B. Your Click ID is the 11 character code (always 11 characters) following click?id=

In the example below the Click ID is: yh2rM/1KfGc

http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=yh2rM/1KfGc&offerid=56489.1&type=3&subid=0

After entering your code, press the “Get Code” button, and paste the resulting HTML code in to your webpage.

That's it!

Here's a suggestion...

Browse existing articles and look for places within your content where a video would be work well.

6) Experiment with placement. The location of the video on your page could make all the difference.

Remember to pre-sell the product/service first, which gives your audience a reason to click the "Play" button. Surround the video with relevant, quality content. And then let your visitor's enthusiasm do the rest!

Here are a couple of examples:

Let's Sum It Up...

When words on a Web page aren't enough, say it with video. Let our merchants videos convince your readers that their products/services are what they're looking for.

Video is opening doors to many new possibilities. Watch for more visual tools in the coming months that will help grow your affiliate business. And keep visiting this page to find new videos. (We'll be posting loads more over the next few weeks).
