Data feed FAQ's…

What is a data feed/product feed?

A data feed -- sometimes referred to as a product feed -- is a large file crammed with lots of information about a merchant's products. Data feeds can contain anywhere from a handful of products, to tens of thousands of products.

What do I do with the data feed and what are it's benefits?

Once you've downloaded the JobsInSports data feed, you can turn its information into html pages for your visitors to view and initiate purchases from -- you receive 20% commission on every job subscription purchased from your website. That means with our current average order price of $29.95 you'll be earning $5.99 per subscription. For one year subscriptions...and you'd be surprised how many of these we sell...you'll earn $19.80.

The data feed should be used to enhance your current website by offering your visitors the choice of hundreds of jobs, in addition to the other products your website currently promotes. For best results, your web page should ideally be sports or job-related. This'll mean that the traffic to your web page is highly qualified, and visitors will be very likely to purchase the JobsInSports service.

Here's an example...Say you have a website specifically designed to help people change their careers. This would be an ideal type of website to add the data feed of jobs being advertised by JobsInSports.com. The visitors to your site are almost guaranteed to purchase a subscription to JobsInSports once they've seen some jobs they want to apply to - many of the jobs aren't listed anywhere else!

Or another example...You have a link to a page all about sports. And you have a section which asks your viewers "interested in a career in the sports industry?" - obviously this would be a perfect place to display the link to the data feed to show what kind of jobs are available.

With the data feed, you can display the jobs on your website any way you want. How you display them is entirely up to you… We advise you make the data feed blend in with the colors, style and design of your website.

How do I build web pages using the data in the data feed?

You can build the web pages using the data in the data feed in exactly the same way as you have produced the other pages in your website -- i.e. by using your favorite web building program such as FrontPage, Dreamweaver, HomeSite etc. Try to make your website really stand out and be of value to your sites visitors. You may want to include content on the following subjects; trends in the US job market, how to answer difficult job interview questions, how to write the 'killer resume' etc. Check out some great articles you can host on your website through your Commission Junction account.
